Followed by the launch of Tata Safari Storme facelift in the mid of this year, Tata Motors, the homegrown auto major has launched a new variant named ”Safari Storme VariCOR 400”. This more-powerful product by Tata Motors is priced at Rs 13.25 lakh for the VX 4*2 variant and Rs 14.59 lakh for VX 4*4 variant (both ex-showroom, Delhi).
Being the most-powerful product of range on slot, the interesting part comes under the hood. It is powered by the same 2.2-litre four- cylinder diesel engine, but has undergone some technical revisions to deliver 154 bhp and 400 Nm peak of torque, which is a major highlight in the new Safari Storme. Another major highlight is the engine is mated with an improved 6-speed manual gearbox instead of a 5-speed manual gearbox. This Tata product can do a 0-60 Kmph sprint in hardly 5.2 seconds and 0-100 Kmph speed in 12.8 seconds, Which is slightly faster than the standard variant.
Talking about the design and look, the brand has not made any changes in this new variant. On the other hand, the features offered are the same as on current model that includes Java Black Interior trims, dual airbags in the front, Harman infotainment system, Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Electronic Brake Force Distribution (EBD), Engine immobilizer, electric ORVM, central locking, rear AC vents, rear parking sensors,and height adjustable driver seat.
As of now all the lower version will continue to be powered by the existing 2.2-litre VARICOR engine mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox that churns out 148 bhp of maximum power and 320 Nm peak of torque.
