Tata Motors posts a domestic sales growth of 5 percent in October 2017 in passenger vehicle segment, where the brand sold 16,475 units, a growth of 1 percent over the corresponding month last year. This continued good performance was supported by new generation models like Tata Tiago, Tigor, Hexa and that received with the excellent response by the newly launched compact SUV, Nexon. While the cumulative sales growth of passenger vehicles in the domestic market for the fiscal 2017-18 were at 97,892 units, marking a growth of 10 percent, compared to 88,976 units, in the same period last fiscal. In October 2017, the exports witnessed a sale of 4311 units and witnessed a decline of 32 percent, due to the continued drop in TIV in Sri Lanka (by 53%) and Nepal (by 46%).
Commenting on the sales performance, Mr. Mayank Pareek, President, Passenger Vehicles Business Unit, Tata Motors, said, “We continue to keep the sales momentum going, led by a strong product pipeline of Tiago, Tigor, and Hexa. We have successfully completed the launch of Nexon across the country and are delighted with the response and it is currently witnessing a waiting period of around 8 weeks. While we have grown, we could have done better had it not been for the long holiday season. We will maintain cautious optimism in the market and hope to see this momentum continue.”
