On the sidelines of the commercial launch of the Tata Zest compact sedan, the Indian automaker revealed plans of rolling out two new models every year until 2020 in a bid to expand its foothold and ramp up the product portfolio in the country.
For the year 2014, the Indian automaker has already rolled out the Zest sedan with prices starting ranging between Rs 4.64 lakh and Rs 6.99 lakh (ex-showroom, New Delhi), while the upcoming hatchback Tata Bolt is slated to debut in the country during the festive season.
“We launched eight variants across four brands last year. We are looking to launch two new vehicles every year till 2020. Zest is the first model launch this year and will be followed up by compact model Bolt soon.” Tata Motor president of passenger vehicles, Ranjit Yadav said.
For the year 2015, the Indian automaker has confirmed that its new Nexon utility vehicle that was presented at the 2014 Auto Expo will see the light of day in the first half of the year.
Meanwhile, the newly introduced Tata Zest compact sedan that is being built at the company plant in Pimpri and Ranjangaon near Pune, will also be exported to global markets starting in 2015.
