With Government’s welcome the electric mobility in India by 2030, Tata Motors will launch the Nano electric on November 28, but would named as ‘Jayem Neo’. Tata Motors would supply complete Nano body shells to a Coimbatore-based Jayem Automotives who will manufacture and market the EV. Jayem Automotives recently joined hands in a venture with Tata Motors to develop sporty versions of select Tata models.
To give support ‘Make in India’ campaign, PM Narendra Modi is expected to launch the Jayem Neo in Hyderabad. The Neo would be sold under the brand Jayem, while Tata Motors would launch its own version of the Neo in the future. The Jayem Neo will not carry the Tata logo, but will get a ‘powered by Electra EV’ moniker on the side.
The Neo will be powered by a 48-Volt electric system that will make 23bhp of maximum power, which is a decent amount of power for a vehicle that weighs around 800kg. It is expected to return an ARAI cycle range of vehicle around 200km on one full charge and 140km with air-condition and a total of four persons. The first lot of 400 of Jayem Neo to the taxi aggregator Ola Cabs during the launch.
The Neo is not just a for commercial use, but in coming future, it will be launched for private buyers with a more powerful version of the model that could get Tata badge.
