Tata Motors is ready to launch the Nano GenX, which will become the first Nano to be launched with an Automated Manual Transmission (AMT) gearbox. The top-of-the line variant of the Tata's most ambitious project will also be the first Nano to come with a proper functional boot lid and will launch sometime in the next month.
According to our friends at the IndianAutoBlogs, the ARAI figures for the Tata Nano AMT, which will be called AMT Easy shift has come out to be 21.9 kmpl, which is almost 3.5 kmpl less than the Tata Nano Twist, that claims an ARAI efficiency of 25.4 kmpl. The Nano AMT will come with a sports mode that would hold each gear till the redline if necessary.
The Nano GenX will have a larger fuel tank of 24 litre, as against 15 litre on the current model. One of the biggest change in the Nano GenX will be a fully functional boot supported on two hydraulic mounts. The boot on the Nano GenX will be able to take a luggage capacity of 110 litres. On the current generation Nano, one has to fold the rear seats to access the storage compartment.
The next generation Tata Nano will be offered in XE, XM and XT variants. While the manual gearbox will come in all three variants, the AMT will be offered only on XM and XT variants. Also, there will be new colours on offer that include - Pearl White, Meteor Silver, Sangria Red (all-new), Damson Purple, Royal Gold, Dazzle Blue and Persian Rose.
