Tata Motors would launch the Nano Twist XE variant next month and it has decided to discontinue the CX and LX trims of the small car in the country. The Twist XE is nothing but a power steering equipped version of the CX and it would boast all the features of the CX. The company would introduce power steering on the entry-level variants of the car as well.
The Nano XE would comprise of black bumpers and come without wheel caps. Currently, the entire Nano line-up also consists of 3 older variants such as Standard, CX, LX, while there are two variants of the new Nano in the form of CX, LX, Twist XT and CNG. So, the company has made its mind to phase out the new CX and LX variants of the Nano from next month. And, the company would launch the new Nano Twist XE to compensate for these phased out variants. It will be positioned below the XT variant in the Nano range.
The new XE variant would be comprising of an electric power assist steering (EPAS) and would be offered in three colors - Silver, Gold and White. Additionally, it will host an array of decent features such as the new instrument cluster with features like distance-to-empty, average fuel economy and LED bars for engine temperature and fuel gauge.
Mechanically, it would be the same altogether, retaining the same 624cc, 2-pot petrol motor. Tata Motors would also launch the Nano with an AMT gearbox in the first quarter of 2015 and the yet-to-be-launched vehicle has been spied several times as a test mule with camouflage. New Nano XE is expected to arrive with a sticker price of Rs. 2.22 Lakhs (Ex. Showroom, Mumbai).
