Tata Nexon Electric price will be positioned above the regular model.
Tata Motors will launch an electrified version of its popular sub-four-meter SUV, Nexon within the next eighteen months, reports in media suggest. The news comes after Tata Motors’ 74th Annual General Meeting held recently. Reports indicate Tata Motors is planning to launch four new models in the country in the next eighteen months including Tata Altroz premium hatchback, a more powerful version of Tigor EV, Tata Nexon e-SUV and Tata Tiago EV.
Details deeming the upcoming electric Nexon are yet sketchy, albeit, the e-SUV is expected to share the lithium-ion battery pack with Tigor EV. This battery unit will be placed under the seat instead of the fuel tank, where it is usually positioned. Tata Motors had showcased the electric version of Tata Altroz at the 2018 Geneva Motor Show, featuring an AC and DC charger. It is said that Tata could offer the same AC, DC charger unit in Nexon e-SUV, also both the models could share the battery tech as shown in the Altroz EV.
As revealed by Tata Motors, the Altroz EV could offer an estimated range of 250 to 300 km on a full charge and charge up to 80 per cent of battery in just 60 minutes using a DC charger. Similar range and charging capacity are expected to be offered by Nexon EV. As for Tata Nexon electric price in India, the addition of an electric set-up is likely to bump the pricing by a great margin compared to the conventional petrol/diesel models.
A facelifted Tata Nexon (non-electric version) is also due in 2020, it will be interesting to see how electrified Nexon will vary from its fuel-powered models.
