Tata Motors is riding high on the success of its subcompact SUV, Nexon which was recently awarded 4 star rating in the global NCAP crash test. The company has now added Apple CarPlay to the SUV. As for the existing owners, they can visit any authorized Tata dealership in their vicinity and get a software update to get this feature. The software update on the 6.5-inch touchscreen is said to take just 30 minutes for installation.
Tata Motors had rolled out an update for Nexon’s infotainment system earlier this year in April deeming its hardware. As a part of the update, silicon pads were inserted on the headlamp housing to prevent the wiring harness from touching the projector unit. The update also included replacement of the plastic battery cover of the key fob which comes with the Smart key on the XZ+ variant. There were some issues with the Bluetooth connectivity and ‘freezing’ of the touchscreen which were also fixed.
Launched last year in India, Tata’s ambitious subcompact SUV has carved a niche spot in the subcompact SUV space. It is one of the most affordable options in the segment with prices falling between Rs 6.15 lakh to Rs 10.59 lakh (ex-showroom price). That said, the model is available in petrol and diesel versions in manual as well as AMT option. The petrol version derives power from the 1.2-litre Revoton engine with maximum power of 108 bhp against 170 Nm and the 1.5-litre Revotorq oil burner offers 108 bhp against 260 Nm of torque.
On the safety front, it gets standard driver side airbag, co-passenger airbag and anti-lock-braking system. Other prominent safety tech such as ISOFIX anchorages are offered with XZ+ and XZA+ variants. Packed with these features, the Nexon has recently secured an impressive 4-star rating for adult safety and 3-star rating in child in the Global NCAP crash tests.
