Tata Motor’s upcoming SUV, the Tata Nexon was first unveiled at the 2016 Auto Expo and has been spotted testing on the roads a couple of times since then. The latest image comes from Maharashtra where a heavily camouflaged test mule of the Nexon has been spotted. Thankfully the boot of the baby SUV had less camouflage which offered us to have a better peek at the layout. The compact SUV’s bootlid is elegantly finished in dual tone with the silver coloured body complimented with a black strip. Also, unlike the earlier test mules, this time it looks more like a production unit.
The Tata Nexon will be launched in both petrol and diesel variant. The petrol variant will be 1.2-liter three-cylinder turbocharged Revotron engine which will produce a power of 120PS and torque of 260Nm. The diesel version will get a 1.5-liter four-cylinder unit with power capacity of 110 PS and torque of 260Nm. As far as the transmission is concerned, you would be able to choose from a 6-speed manual or an AMT transmission variant. The SUV will come with 16-inch alloy wheels and 200mm of ground clearance. The interiors of the SUV will carry an infotainment system with 6.5-inch touchscreen, on-steering controls, and automatic climate control.
The Nexon is expected to launch in the first half of 2017. Once launched, it will be rivalling against the segment’s bestseller Ford Ecosport, Mahindra TUV and Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza.
