Tata Motors has lined up quite a few products for the Indian market in 2017. It includes the all-new Hexa SUV (January 2017), Kite 5 sedan, Tiago AMT and Nexon sub-compact SUV. The most anticipated and keenly awaited of all the aforementioned vehicles is Tata Nexon, which had its premiere as production model at the 2016 Auto Expo. And, now the sub 4-meter SUV has been spied closely as test mule during night time by IAB reader Abhishek Joshi. Though, the test mule was wearing camouflage but still, the spy-shots gave a glimpse of the taillamp glow pattern.
Going by the spy images, the Tata Nexon can be seen flaunting U-shaped LED tail lamp cluster. Though, the brake lights are triangularly shaped standard bulbs. The lamps near the registration plates also seem to be LED powered. The tail-lamps are linked via a body-colored panel (preferably in top-end variant only). As for exterior features, the Nexon would come loaded with projector headlamps with daytime running lamps (DRLs), gloss black front grille contrasting roofline, front fog lamps and ceramic side finisher. Being based on Tata's 'IMPACT' design language helmed by new design head Pratap Bose, it would ride on 16-inch alloy wheels. Just so you know, Tata Nexon SUV had its world premiere at 2014 Auto Expo in Concept form.
Mechanically, the Nexon would be offered in both petrol and diesel fuel trims, identical to almost every other Tata product. The diesel variants would debut the all-new 1.5L 4-cylinder turbocharged engine which would develop maximum power of 108bhp and peak torque of 260Nm. It would be the most powerful SUV in the segment, leaving behind the likes of Ford EcoSport, Mahindra TUV300 and Maruti Vitara Brezza. The petrol variants would be powered by the Tiago-sourced 1.2L 3-cylinder turbocharged Revotron engine, with power and torque figures being not revealed yet. The Nexon is expected to be offered with manual transmission initially, with AMT or AT variant planned for launch at a later stage. It would be launching by the end of 2017 in the Indian market.
