Tata Nexon Teased; Launching in September 2017

Snapshot: The home-grown automaker had showcased the production-ready version of Nexon at the 2016 Auto Expo in February in Greater Noida

Tata Motors has officially released the first teaser image of the Nexon SUV, which would launch in the festive season around September-October 2017 in the Indian market. The company announced that Tata Nexon would be introduced in both petrol and diesel fuel trims with the 1.2L turbocharged Revotron engine and all-new 1.5L Revotorq engine, respectively. The home-grown automaker had showcased the production-ready version of Nexon at the 2016 Auto Expo in February in Greater Noida, while it debuted as a Concept at the previous edition of Motor Show.

Commenting on the occasion, Mr. Mayank Pareek, President, Passenger Vehicle Business Unit, Tata Motors said, “To introduce this all new SUV into the market, we are not leaving any stone unturned. We are once again introducing a product with an exciting package for our customers. The engine is the heart of the car and along with the SUV like design and features, we wanted to offer punchy, responsive and refined engines. Both these engines have been designed and developed post extensive feedback from auto enthusiasts, expert drivers, followed by extensive testing across India, on different terrains. We are confident that this new family of engines will further help us build our brand and deliver a memorable experience on-road.”

Shedding light on the new 1.2L petrol and 1.5L diesel engines, both have been designed at Tata Motors’ in-house facility in Pune. The Revotron engine will be manufactured at the Sanand facility while the Revotorq engine will be produced at the Ranjangaon facility. The 1198cc 3-cylinder turbocharged Revotron petrol engine would develop maximum power of 108bhp at5000rpm and peak torque of 170Nm between 2000-4000rpm. On the other hand, the 1496cc 4-cylinder Revotorq diesel engine would generate maximum power of 108bhp at 3750rpm and highest torque of 260Nm between 1500-2750rpm. Both the engine would be offered with a new 6-speed gearbox and first-in-segment multi drive modes – Eco, City, and Sport.
