It seems like Tata Motors doesn't wants to leave any stone unturned with launch of the Bolt and Zest in the Indian market. These new models are much improved in terms of build as well as equipment level. And now to market both these products aggressively, the automaker has decided to bolster its sales force by hiring additional 3000-3500 personnel along with their dealers.

Tata Motors will follow an innovative strategy to hire best of the applicants where each prospective candidate will have to go through a psychometric and aptitude test to come on board and uplift Tata's sales. Interestingly, this would be very first time when any automaker will follow such strategy to make their sales division stronger. With all these painstaking efforts, the company is hoping to achieve the sales mark of nearly 25,000 units a month, which currently hovers around 14,000 units.

The Bolt and Zest will be company's new players in the hatchback and compact sedan segments respectively. Both models are based on the Vista's platform and will be powered by the 1.3-litre QuadraJet diesel and a newly-developed 1.2-litre Turbocharged petrol unit. Infact, to explain the Revotron's technology to the customers, Tata will also develop Revotron labs across 100 major dealerships in the country. Transmission duty will get done with a 5-speed manual gearbox whilst the Zest is confirmed to come with AMT (automated manual transmission) option as well. The Zest will become India's first diesel powered car with AMT transmission.

“With the Revetron engine, we will reach out to a large petrol market, where the company has a limited presence. We will launch India's first affordable AMT (automated manual transmission) diesel car and all our cars will be equipped with advanced telematics systems, which is the next level of connectivity between cars and cell phone," said Ankush Arora, senior vice-president and head, Commercial Passenger Vehicle Business Unit.

The Tata Bolt will be positioned to rival the likes of Maruti Suzuki Swift while the Zest will step in the compact sedan segment to compete with the Honda Amaze, Maruti Suzuki Dzire and Hyundai Xcent. Arguably, both these new cars seem much improved and promising over their siblings but to actually judge their performance, we have to wait till their launch in the second half of 2014.
