We earlier reported you in our exclusive story that Tata is all set to launch the Safari Storme facelift in the country in April 2015 (most probably 2nd week). And, now the interiors of the new SUV have been spied and yes, the new Tata Safari Storme would flaunt a 'VARICOR 400' badge. The company has made substantial changes to the interior cabin as well as the mechanics of the SUV.
Going by the spy-shots, the biggest visible change is the phasing out of the conventional and oversized four-spoke steering wheel in favour of a new 3-spoke steering wheel. The new steering wheel is sourced from Tata's latest offerings Zest and Bolt. And as per our report, it also gets audio and other controls mounted on it. Coming to the centre console, it now boasts a silver insert, and a new music system (most probably Harmon-Kardon) with Bluetooth, AUX-in and CD/MP3. Contrary to the ongoing model's faux-wood finish, the Tata Safari Storme facelift would feature light beige inserts for the dashboard. The gear-knob is also finished in the same with added silver inserts. The new SUV might also get optional Captains chairs and a front-facing third row bench.
Tata Motors has retuned the existing 2.2L 4-cylinder diesel engine, which has subsequently resulted in more power and torque. The Safari Storme facelit would pump out 160PS of maximum power and 400Nm of peak torque now, an increase of 20PS and 80Nm as compared to the current model. And yes, the updated SUV would also pamper you with a new Land Rover-esque front grille and mesh like air-dam design. It is expected to come in a price domain of Rs. 10-14 Lakhs (Ex. Showroom), while making lives tougher for Renault Duster and Mahindra Scorpio in the country.
