Looks like Tata Motors realized that they lagged in the launching of their SUV, facelifted Tata Safari Storme, as the Mahindra recently launched the Scorpio in the face-lifted avatar. Tata has revved up the process for the launch of the vehicle, and recently it was spied in Pune, testing, revealing the front without any disguise. The Tata Safari Storme has been already way ahead in the terms of design over her predecessor, Safari, and this is the reason, the new Safari will have minimal changes to the exterior, as can be seen in the spy shots.
The visible changes to the exterior includes a new honeycomb mesh grille and a revised bumper, although no changes are made to the dimensions of the SUV. As for the interiors, the new Tata Safari Storme will get an updated touchscreen equipped infotainment system and front facing third row seats. No other details have been revealed yet for the interiors, though.
Under the hood, the new Safari Storme is expected to get the 2.2 liter VARICOR turbo diesel unit producing 148 BHP of power and 320 Nm of torque. The same unit is powering the Aria in the top model and is mated to a 5 speed manual gearbox, which will also be retained. The Storme will get the Shift-on-Fly Four-Wheel drive system and a 4WD system.
We expect the pricing to be very aggressive, making it difficult for the Duster and the Scorpio to enjoy the market share, they have done for quite a some time now. With the launch of the new Scorpio and the 4*4 version of the Duster, current Storme was lost in the competition.
