Tata Motors has delivered 100 units of the Tiago hatch to the first buyers in Chennai in the country. The home-grown automaker held a 'Grand Delivery Ceremony' on May 28, 2016 for the first 100 Tiago customers. The event was held at Island Grounds, which was attended by customers and their families. In addition, the company also had arrangements for entertainment programmes for the buyers and their families.
Out of the 100 units of Tata Tiago, 86 were petrol while 15 were diesel. It was also learnt that the range-topping XZ variant in petrol guise is the best-selling model in Tiago range. Last week, we reported you that the hatchback has registered over 15,000 bookings ever since its launch on April 7, 2016. Tata has received around 1 Lakh enquiries regarding the Tiago till date. Belligerent pricing and exemplary mileage were two instrumental factors behind the success of Tata Tiago. Just so you know, Tata had announced the #TIAGO11 promotional contest recently, and eleven lucky winners of the contest travelled to Barcelona, Spain, to meet Lionel Messi, who is the global brand ambassador of the passenger vehicle division of Tata Motors.
Tata Tiago was launched in both petrol and diesel fuel trims in five grades: XB, XE, XM, XT, and XZ. The hatch carries several decent features like ConnectNext Infotainment system by Harman with AM/FM, USB, AUX-IN, iPOD and Bluetooth connectivity, Steering mounted audio & phone controls, Cooled glove box, Alloy wheels, Rear parking sensors, ABS with EBD & Corner Stability Control, and dual front airbags. The petrol variants developed a maximum power of 83bhp, while returning a mileage of 23.84kmpl. The diesel variants delivered 67bhp of top power with an outstanding fuel efficiency of 27.28kmpl. Both the engines were coupled with a 5-speed manual transmission, and AMT variant could be available at a later stage.
