Delaying the launch of the most anticipated, the Tiago hatchback, Tata Motors has finally confirmed the launch of the hatch on April 6. Booking of the Tata Tiago is opened, since 10th March. Tata Tiago was unveiled in December 2015 by the name “Zica”, as the name resembles to the deadly virus “Zika”, the name has to be renamed as “Tiago”.
Positioned under the Tata Bolt and above the Tata Nano, the Tiago hatch measures 3,746 mm in length, 1,647 mm in width, 1,535 mm in height with a wheelbase of 2,400 mm. Bearing company’s IMPACT design language, the Tiago is the first car to be designed, with key features like smoke headlights that merges with honeycomb grille, wraparound taillamps and integrated roof spoiler. Inside, the Tiago features adjustable ORVMs, rear defogger, a Harman infotainment system with best in class music system, Bluetooth, AUX-In and USB connectivity, steering mounted audio controls & smartphone integration via Tata ConnectNEXT, TFT display.
Build on the XO platform of the Indica, the engine lineup includes a three-cylinder 1.05-litre Revotorq diesel engine that cranks out 70 PS @ 4000 RPM and 140 Nm of torque between 1800-3000 RPM, while the petrol unit is a trimmed down version of the 1.2-litre Revotron engine that powers the Bolt and the Zest and has only 3-cylinders now. The engine is capable to produce 85 PS @ 6000 RPM and 114 Nm of torque @ 3500 RPM.
The Tata hatchback will be offered in six body colours - Platinum Silver, Pearlescent White, Sunburst Orange, Berry Red, Espresso Brown and Striker Blue. The car will compete with the likes of the Hyundai Grand i10 and Maruti Suzuki Celerio. It is expected to priced between Rs 4 lakh to Rs 5.5 lakh.
