Tata Motors has added more standard features to their best–selling product in the lineup - Tata Tiago hatchback, where these features are safety-centric. Tata Tiago price in India starts from Rs 4.40 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) and now will come loaded with ABS with EBD, dual airbags, corner stability control, electronic brake distribution as well as rear parking sensors as standard fitments.
Tata Tiago first made its launch in April 2016, and with the success of the model, Tata has also introduced many variants. The updated Tiago hatchback will also come packed with over-speeding alert and seat belt (with pre-tensioners and with load limiters) reminder alert for both driver as well as the front passenger.
The Tata Tiago update comes in line to an announcement that all the car manufacturers will have to provide mandatory safety features such as driver’s side airbag, speed alert system, rear parking sensors, and seatbelt reminder systems as standard features for all passenger vehicles from July 1, 2019. With this, we can also expect some more feature update on the Tata Tigor compact sedan.

Mechanically, the Tata Tiago still continues to be offered with the same petrol and diesel engines. The petrol variant comes with a 1.2-litre three-cylinder engine that cranks out 84 bhp of maximum power @ 6000 RPM with 114 Nm of peak torque @ 3500 RPM, while the diesel version gets a small 1.05-litre unit that belts out 69 bhp of top power @ 4000 RPM with 140 Nm of torque @ 1800-3000 RPM. Coming to the transmission setup, both petrol and diesel variants are offered with a 5-speed manual and a 5-speed amt.
The introduction of new standard safety features on the Tata Tiago hatchback does calls for an increase in the price of the model as well, which is roughly around Rs 13000 that the previous version. Tata Motors has been aggressive with its product strategy since they launched the Tiago hatchback and the brand does emphasis on the safety features.
