The Government has reduced the GST on the manufacture of electric vehicles
The price of Tata Tigor EV has dropped by Rs 80,000.
The subsidy available for electric vehicles from the FAME II Scheme brings down the price further.
With a view on sustaining the environment, the Government of India is encouraging the manufacture and use of all-electric vehicles. It has reduced the GST for such vehicles from 12% to 5%. Tata Motors has thus, reduced the price of Tata Tigor EV by around Rs 80,000. Hence, the Tata Tigor EV ex-showroom price for its three versions, XE, XM, and XT is between Rs 11.58 and 11.92 lakhs. This pricing neither includes TCS (1% tax on cars above Rs 10 lakhs) nor the subsidy available under FAME II (up to Rs 1.62 lakhs for electric sedans). After accounting for the subsidy, the Tata Tigor EV ex-showroom price would be between Rs 9.96 and 10.30 lakhs.
As on date, the Tata Tigor EV premium models, XM and XT are available for public transport, commercial usage, and for use by Government officials. The Tata Tigor EV XT specs differ from the Tata Tigor XM exteriors, as it comes with 14-inch alloy wheels and power-adjustable mirrors. However, the Tata Tigor EV XT features body-coloured exterior features like bumpers and door handles. Other features include LED tail-lamps, power windows, and an excellent music system with Bluetooth connectivity, USB, and AUX. The Tata Tigor EV safety features like ABS, EBD, dual airbags, and rear parking sensors are available in all variants.
The Tata Tigor EV specs include a 16.2kWh battery powering a 72V triple-phase AC induction motor. This engine delivers the power of 41hp (equivalent to 30kW) and a torque of 105Nm. The Tata Tigor EV mileage claims 142km on a single charge, but tests have shown that it requires recharging after crossing about 100km. A regular AC source can charge the battery up to 80% in six hours, whereas a 15kW fast DC charger claims to take 90 minutes. Tata Motors offers a 3-year/1.25 lakhs km warranty for the battery and the vehicle.
