Tata Zest Sportz Edition Launched

Tata Motors has introduced the Zest Sportz Edition to commemorate the 50,000 unit sales milestone in the country. It is offered as a dealer-level accessory with all the variants of the Zest at an extra cost of Rs. 20,000. In addition, the home-grown automaker is providing the buyers several lucrative offers on the purchase of Zest, including a special EMI scehme of Rs. 3,999 per month, free insurance worth Rs. 33,000 and an exchange bonus worth Rs. 30,000. Just so you know, Tata Zest was launched in August 2014 in the Indian market.

Talking about the Tata Zest Sportz Edition, it comes with tri-color body graphic, red-painted bumper, side sill extensions and ORVM caps, alloy wheels and rain visors. Inside the cabin, there is new seat upholstery. Tata has managed to sell around 1500-2000 units of the Zest sedan each month since its launch in the country. It is placed in the overcrowded sub 4-meter sedan segment, which comprises of Maruti Swift DZire, Honda Amaze, Hyundai Xcent, Ford Aspire and Volkswagen Ameo. The prices for the sedan start at Rs. 5.11 Lakhs (Ex. Showroom, Delhi). The Zest gets an array of premium features such as projector headlamps, LED daytime running lights (DRLs), LED tail-lamp cluster and 8-speaker Harman ConnectNext infotainment system. For those asking, Tata has shelved the 120+bhp Bolt hatch, instead the recently launched Tiago hatch would get a sportier version with top power exceeding 120bhp .

Mechanically, the Zest comes in both petrol and diesel guises. The petrol variants are powered by a 1.2L 4-cylinder turbocharged Revotron engine which generates maximum power of 88bhp and peak torque of 140Nm. It is linked to a 5-speed manual transmission. On the other hand, the diesel variants derive their power from the Fiat-sourced 1.3L Quadrajet engine. It develops power in two tunes:  73bhp and 190 Nm, 88bhp and 200Nm. Both of these come with 5-speed manual gearbox as standard, while the 88bhp variants can also be availed with an optional AMT gearbox. Tata Motors would launch two all-new products this year in India in form of Kite 5 sedan and Hexa premium SUV.
