Tata Motors has launched a new diesel variant of its Zest compact sedan in the country. The new variant Tata Zest XTA comes at a sticker price of Rs. 8.07 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). Several company dealers have started accepting pre-orders for the same and the estimated delivery time is 2-4 weeks. The XTA trim is nothing but the range-topping XT trim with the AMT unit. It has all the features and engine specifications of the XT trim.
The company launched the Zest sedan last year with a lot of belief and hope. It was touted as being the most economical diesel automatic sedan at the time of its launch as it came with Automated Manual Transmission (AMT). But, surprisingly, the company introduced AMT gearbox with the mid-level variant in diesel trim, instead of offering it with the top-end trim. And, due to this, prospective buyers were deprived of several high-end luxury and comfort features as they were on offer with the top-end XT trim. Though, the Zest has sold around 3,000 units monthly since its launch last year, i.e. market response for the sedan is pretty fine.
Tata Zest XTA diesel, being priced at Rs. 8.07 Lakhs, is around Rs. 70,000 more costlier than the top-end XT diesel trim as it is priced at Rs. 7.31 Lakhs (Ex. Showroom, Delhi). But, it comes as a complete package in Rs. 8.07 Lakhs as apart from the AMT gearbox, one also gets the top-notch features of the XT trim such as Harman infotainment system, dual airbags, automatic climate control, rear parking sensors, height adjustable driver’s seat, rear defogger and daytime-running lights. However, company hasn't officially confirmed the launch of this new trim, but dealers have confirmed the same.
