Tata Motors is all set to launch the Zica hatchback on January 20, 2016 in the country. Just so you know, the home-grown automaker had revealed the all-new Tata Zica around a month back and the media drives are also done. Tata Zica hatchback introduces a new petrol engine, while an AMT variant is also said to be in offing. Apparently, the company would also unveil a compact sedan based on the Zica at the 2016 Auto Expo in February, which is slated to go on sale by mid 2016.
Reportedly, the foremost reason behind the pre-Auto Expo launch of Zica hatch seems to be the company's plan of introducing it in this fiscal year. The Zica hatch, like the other recently launched Tata cars, gets Multi-Drive system offering City and Eco driving modes. In addition, the range-topping variants of Zica hatch would boast of several premium safety features like dual front airbags, Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD), and Cornering Brake Control (CBC). As for comfort features, Tata Zica would come loaded with keyless entry, steering mounted audio controls, Harman audio player with 8 speakers, reverse parking sensors and navigation support.
Mechanically, Tata Zica would be offered in both petrol and diesel fuel trims. The petrol variants would be powered by the all-new 1.2L, 3-cylinder all-aluminum Revotron engine, which would develop a maximum power of 84bhp and peak torque of 114Nm. It would be paired to a 5-speed manual transmission, while fuel economy would be in excess of 20kmpl. Talking about the diesel variants, they would derive their power from a 1.05L, 3-cylinder Revotorq motor. This engine would churn out 69bhp of top power and 140Nm of highest torque, while being mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox. Though, the company hasn't divulged the ARAI-specified mileage, but it is believed that it would be 24+kmpl.
