Elon Musk, the founder and the inimitable CEO of the Tesla Group confirmed the arrival of an electric pickup truck right after the launch of Model Y. He addressed to the Tesla customers through an open-ended twitter message. The specific dates of the launch of both the vehicles are yet to be revealed by the company.
The model ‘Y’ promised earlier by the company is a compact crossover SUV, which is most likely to be revealed by the end of 2019 or the start of 2020. This suggests that the pickup truck might arrive by the end of 2021 in the market. By the launch of model Y, the company is targeting the mainstream car buyers in the United States. The model is expected to further strengthen the current position of Tesla as the electric car manufacturer in the world.
On the occasion of Christmas, Elon Musk acknowledged the customers for their faith in the company and asked them for their feedback in order to further improve the company’s services. In his Twitter message, he clearly mentioned that the core design and other engineering elements for the pickup truck are already in the mind and the company is looking to start working on it.
Musk teased a concept model of a pickup truck in November during the unveiling of the electric semi truck. The renderings of the teased truck look more or less similar to the Tesla semi truck with a pickup bed, which will be bigger than Ford F-150. In his Twitter message, he further added that he envisions the performance of a sports car with more power and a larger carrying capacity in the upcoming pickup truck, from that of a similar-sized gas or diesel pickup.
The founder of the Tesla Group also promised of a major browser upgrade to be made to all the car in the coming months. He also added that the updates will bring vastly better maps and navigation system to the cars.
