Japanese car major Toyota is all set launch its all new SUV Fortuner in India, on 7th November. The company has already confirmed the launch date of the big SUV, in addition to that the company has already teased the SUV. The Fortuner is another product from the Japanese manufacturer just after the Innova, which is helping the company the sell some decent number of cars in India. The old Fortuner had seen many takers and quite a bit of fan following, but the sales dropped eventually mostly due to its age and better alternatives, so Toyota is looking to recover its lost market with the all new SUV.
The new Toyota Fortuner is based on the all new platform, called as 'Toyota New Generation Architecture', the Innova Crysta is also based on this platform. According to the Japanese brand the SUV is lighter and stiffer than before, it also provides much improved ride quality, handling, and safety. In terms of looks, the new Fortuner is a updated SUV as well with better and sleeker design, the muscles of the older model has gone now and replaced by a mean looking design.
On the engine front, the GD series 2.4 and 2.8 litre engines is likely to replace the existing KD series engine line-up. These new diesel mills will be more fuel efficient and frugal than the GD series mills thanks to ESTEC and new variable geometry turbocharger.
The all new Toyota Fortuner is likely to come with host of safety features such as engine immobilizer, seven airbags, ABS with EBD, Brake Assist, Hill Assist Control, Reverse parking camera and sensors, Stability Control and Active Traction Control system etc. Just like other Toyota’s the Fortuner will also come with bulletproof reliability and safety features. The all new Fortuner’s base variant is likely to be priced around Rs. 25 lakh and the top model with all the bells and whistles could cost around Rs. 30 lakh. The SUV is likely to be offered in as much as six variants, which will consist four variants with two-wheel drive system and two variants with four-wheel drive system.
