Jaguar invaded the roads world over with a prowling beast which came in the form of F-Type earlier this year which took the world by surprise and left many awe-inspired by the sheer brilliance of the new two-door, screaming kid in the town. The F-Type, looking classy and pounding were launched with the soft-roof in the beginning. Well, a hard-top was always expected from the British makers and they did the novel job of introducing the F-Type coupe to the world today.
With the company pushing the new kid in the block, they have armed the F-Type coupe, not only with a hard roof but also more power! Yes, you heard it right. In its short live, the F-Type received many reviews and applauses but no one ever said that the cabriolet lacks power in any form. But then engineers working at Jaguar had to something more with the coupe and their strategy of making the car even faster came in a very prudent way! The V6 still makes the same kind of power with w335 bhp and 375 bhp rated engine but then comes the 5.0-litre supercharged engine, the 488 Bhp V8S, which comes bolted with the convertible version has been replaced with even more potent V8R engine, which now breathes out a maximum power of 542 bhp! That’s monstrous and no, we are not complaining about it.
All three variants come with the advanced ZF eight-speed transmission, which surely is one of the best in the world of automatics. For old school manual loving people, there is nothing on offer, but automatics of the F-Type would never disappoint, no matter what you love to drive!
If the convertible version of the F-Types were focused on performance, then the new Coupe version has only one motive in on this planet and that is to go fast and fast! With the V8R engine working with the new Jaguar F-Type Coupe, the potent thing can do a sprint from 0-100 km/h in four seconds and can reach a maximum restricted speed of 300 km/h!
In the United Kingdom market, the car has been priced very smartly. The direct competitor Porsche 911 Carrera S has a maximum power of 400 Bhp, and costs a wee cheaper than the F-Type coupe, but then the F-Type offers a lot more grunt to play with. Mechanically, Aston Martin V12 Vantage S is the closest car which offers power like the F-Type, but then the Aston makes a larger bill for the Vantage!
The F-Type might land in India during the upcoming Auto- Expo, which will take place in February 2014. The car will come at a premium of almost Rs. 9 lakh more than the cabriolet counterparts.
