Mercedes-Benz India, as a part of its 15 new product launches in 2015, would launch three cars on 30th July 2015 in the country. It is the first time that a luxury automaker is introducing three cars in one day in India. The company would launch the coupe and AMG versions of its flagship sedan S-Class. Also, the German luxury automaker would launch new paint shades for the G63 AMG, which is already on sale.
Talking about the Mercedes-Benz S500 coupe, it is the two-door version of the S-Class and is quite identical to the standard four-door sedan in terms of exterior styling. It would be powered by the same 4.7L, V8 twin-turbo engine that comes with the S500 sedan. This engine churns out a maximum power of 453 bhp at 5,250-5,500 rpm and peak torque 700 Nm of between 1,800-3,500 rpm. Coming to the Mercedes-Benz S63 AMG, it is even more powerful and gets some visual updates over the S500 coupe. It would come with AMG kit and a 5.5L V8 Bi-Turbo engine, which dishes out a maximum power of 585 bhp and peak torque of 900 Nm. It is linked to a 7-speed AMG SPEEDSHIFT transmission.
Internationally, the S63 AMG is offered with both rear wheel drive or the 4MATIC all-wheel drive system and it touches 100kmph mark from standstill in just 4.2 seconds and 3.9 seconds, respectively. Both the versions have an electronically limited top speed of 250kmph. However, it remains to be seen if the company introduces the all-wheel-drive variant in India or not. In addition, Mercedes-Benz would launch new exterior shades of the G63 AMG, which is already on sale in India. It was launched in February 2013 at a sticker price of Rs. 1.46 Crores (Ex. Showroom, Mumbai).
