Yamaha revealed its new Niken GT at the 2018 EICMA show in the city of Milan in Italy, earlier this week. Yamaha engineers have made the new version of the sport-tourer more appropriate, enjoyable and secure for long distance rides. The 2019 Yamaha Niken GT fares almost like the normal three-wheeled Niken, in terms of mechanics.

Interestingly, it has taken cues from the Yamaha MT-09. The mill is borrowed from the MT-09 which is an 847cc, in-line three-cylinder engine that churns 114 bhp at 10,000 rpm and 87.5 Nm of max torque at 8500 rpm. It also gets a quick-shifter, three-mode traction control and a standard slip and assist clutch.

For leaning at sharp bends and corners, there are two upgraded wheels in the front which are 15-inches each and attached to the body with two different set of inverted forks which while riding feels like any other two-wheeler.

Unlike the standard Niken, the new Yamaha Niken GT features a centre stand. Other highlights include a 12-volt charging outlet, wider seats, a taller windscreen, heated handlebar grips and 25-litre panniers with rear grab bars.

The availability and price of the new 2019 Yamaha Niken GT are yet to be disclosed and will be limited in production.
