Toyota and Suzuki have agreed to start discussing the joint projects for the technological development, vehicle production and market development. With this, both the automobile manufacturers are advancing with their partnership in the global level that was formed back in February 2017. Indian market is going to play a key role in this partnership as both the automakers will share vehicles, platforms, components with each other.
The latest development comes as the two companies are mulling the way to widen the partnership with joint vehicle production and market development. This way, both the automakers aim to reduce production cost significantly that will ensure increased profit. Under this partnership, Denso Corporation and Toyota will provide Suzuki the necessary technological support for a compact and ultra efficient powertrain that will be developed by Suzuki.
In India, Toyota Kirloskar Motor Private Ltd. (TKM) will produce cars developed by Suzuki for sale in the country through each of the Toyota and Suzuki brand network. Also, the two companies discussed about the supply of models developed by Suzuki to overseas markets, including those to be produced by Toyota. The strategy to will be to employ each of the Toyota and Suzuki sales networks to sell those vehicles.
As we reported earlier, we might see the Maruti Suzuki models being sold sporting Toyota badge in India soon. Also, Toyota cars would be sold in the domestic market wearing Maruti Suzuki badge. However, these cars will receive some minor updates in order to be distinctive compared to the original ones.
