Just like the Maruti’s diesel hybrids, Toyota Camry hybrid also gets a price cut of Rs 2.30 lakh and now the Camry hybrid price starts at Rs 30.90 as against Rs 33.20 lakh in April (All Prices, Ex-showroom, Delhi). This massive fall in price comes after the reduction of the VAT rate, from 12.5% to 5% on electric and hybrid vehicles announced by the government of Delhi.
Unlike the Maruti diesel SHVS version which are mild hybrids, the Camry gets a full hybrid technology along with an electric motor incorporated in the model which is capable of powering the vehicle as per the driving conditions. The petrol variant of the Camry is not benefitted and the prices revised are only to be implemented in Delhi. The Toyota Camry Hybrid is already benefited by the Central government’s FAME (Faster Adoption & Manufacturing of (Hybrid &) Electric Vehicles) scheme, where it gets customer incentive of Rs. 70,000 in subsidy for the use of its Hybrid technology.
Mechanically, the Camry Hybridis powered by a 2.5-litre four cylinder in-line petrol engine. The petrol engine engenders pinnacle power of 157bhp PS at 5700 RPM along with torque of 213Nm at 4500 RPM. A 650 V permanent magnet synchronous motor and a 245 V nickel-metal Hybdride hybrid battery are also inset in the hybrid trim. The hybrid system pumps out 205 PS of maximum power and also comes with ECO and EV driving modes. The motor delivers 141bhp of power and 270Nm of torque. An E-CVT (electronically controlled continuously variable transmission) is synchronized with the petrol engine.
