Toyota Kirloskar Motor have now opened the bookings for its soon-to-launched Toyota Etios Cross that was recently unveiled for the first time in India at the 2014 Delhi Motor Show. Even though the pricing of the Etios Cross is still under wraps, you can book the car with a down payment of Rs 50,000. A dedicated website has also been made live by the Japanese company for its upcoming mini-crossover, where you can see the model in all eight colours, view the interiors and also locate a nearby dealer to book it. Toyota is mulling to launch the Etios Cross sometime in May 2014 and could be priced around Rs 30,000 to Rs 40,000 more than the corresponding Etios Liva variants.
The Toyota Etios Cross is essentially a beefed up version of the Liva hatchback and therefore, the differences between the two are limited only to visuals. The driving and performance capabilities remain unchanged. On the outside, the Etios Cross has gained a much larger front bumper, new 10-inch alloy wheels, faux silver skid plates, tons of cladding on the lower part of the body, wheel arches and silver roof rails with payload capacity of up to 50Kgs. Overall, the beefed up Etios Cross has hit the nail right and hard in the pseudo-crossover segment.
Engine options include two petrol units and one diesel unit. The petrol range consists of 1.2-litre unit that is rated at 80PS and a 1.5-litre unit that is rated at 90PS. The 1.4-litre diesel power plant on the other hand, produces 68PS of max power. When launched in India, the Etios Cross will rival the likes of Volkswagen Cross Polo and the upcoming Fiat Punto Avventura and also the Ford EcoSport on the price-front.
