Toyota Kirloskar Motor have officially rolled out the all-new Etios Cross into the Indian market today with prices starting at Rs 5.76 lakh (ex-showroom, New Delhi.) The Etios Cross was first seen at the 2014 Delhi Motor Show earlier this year and the company had already opened bookings for the model last month. Essentially, a beefed up Etios Liva, the Etios Cross has taken a flight in the pseudo-crossover segment in India to rival the recently launched Volkswagen Cross Polo and the upcoming Fiat Avventura.
The new Toyota Etios Cross will be offered in a total of four variants - 2 petrol (V & G) and 2 diesel variants (VD & GD). A choice of three engine options are on offer: a 1.5-litre DOHC petrol unit that is rated at 90PS, a 1.2-litre DOHC petrol unit that is rated at 80PS and a 1.4-litre D-4D diesel engine that churns out 68PS of max power at 3,800rpm.
Differences between the Etios Cross and Etios Live hatchback are limited to only visuals, with no changes made to the driving dynamics and performance capabilities. On the outside, the Etios Cross sports a much larger bumper, faux silver skid plates, new 15-inch diamond cut alloy wheels, silver roof rails with a payload capacity of up to 50kgs, fog lamps, ORVMs with turn indicators and generous amount of cladding all around the lower part of the body.
On the inside, the Etios Cross is seen sporting piano black colour accents on the dashboard and features leather wrapped steering wheel, height adjustable driver’s seat and steering wheel mounted audio controls. Other standard features inside the cabin include, a 2-DIN music system with AUX-IN and USB, power windows, tilt adjust for the steering wheel and the ‘Etios Cross’ stitching in white on the seats. Safety features include dual front SRS air bags and ABS with EBD
The model is available in a choice of eight colour options: Ultramarine Blue, Classic Grey, Symphony Silver, Inferno Orange, Celestial Black, White, Vermilion Red and Harmony Beige.
