The Japanese automobile manufacturing giant Toyota is all geared up to enter its first, introductory Etios Motor Racing Championship of this year, on 27th July 2013. The first bout of this contest will take place in the Madras/Chennai Motorsports club (MMSC) on 27th and 28th.
Four races will be held in the first round, where 25 drivers within the age of 16-24 years and their cars will go against each other. Cash prize and a trophy will be awarded for the winner of each race. The second round will be held in the Buddh International circuit in the month of September. The top three comers of the total 8 rounds race, will be eligible for the Toyota VIOS Cup, held in Thailand.
The Etios Motor Racing Trophy, is a nourisher of the VIOS Chalice. The EMR (Etios Motor Racing) was organized by the Toyota Racing Development, which is a modification and Motorsport part of the Toyota brand. The EMR came into existence last year, back then the drivers were hunted throughout the whole nation, to find the best hidden talents. To promote the last year’s EMR contest, presentation races were held in Gurgaon and Chennai in India and Colombo in Sri Lanka.
The Etios cars used in the events are said to be more agile that the stock 1.5 liter petrol, due to massive weight reduction. These modified street cars respire through a BMC DIA air sieve system and perspires through a TRD exhaust mechanism. The cars are mounted with 15 inch Enkei alloys with 205 fragments MRF racing rubbers. TEIN suspension and advanced braking methods are some of the modifications that are made on normal cars to turn them into racers.MRF tires, Motul lubricants, BMC and DENSO are the official partners of the Etios Motor Racing Trophy of 2013.
