Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) have officially confirmed its return to the race circuit with the 2014 season of the Etios Motor Racing (EMS.) The first round of the second season of the EMR is scheduled to get underway on the 19th and 20th of July 2014 at the Kari Motor Speedway. The inaugural race of the season has been scheduled to be a part of the third and fifth round of the National Racing Championship.
The new EMR driver line-up, which consists of a mix of existing and new EMR drivers, will compete for the title this year. The inaugural EMR trophy that was held at the Buddh International Circuit in Greater Noida last year saw Diljith as its first champion whereas Akhil Rabindra and Varun Anekar finished in the seconds and third places respectively.
The EMR cars for the second season have been currently put on display in select dealerships in Coimbatore and Kerela and contests are being run in these dealership to provide people with a chance to experience the EMR cars on the track.
Commenting on the announcement, N. Raja, director & senior vice president of marketing & sales, TKM said, “Toyota introduced EMR in India in 2012 with an aim to promote motorsports at a grass root level and make motorsports more accessible and popular in India. The EMR platform has helped talented young racers develop their motoring skills, and further trained them to gain a competitive edge for their future. After the success of the inaugural EMR trophy last year, we are looking forward to the second edition go the trophy.”
