Toyota India has launched the Glanza hatchback at a starting price of Rs 7.21 Lakhs (Ex. Showroom, New Delhi) in the country. It is introduced only in petrol fuel trim in two grades: G and V. The company has introduced a special lithium ion battery with ISG in the base G variant to make it more powerful and fuel efficient. Essentially, the re-badged version of Maruti Baleno, the deliveries of Toyota Glanza will commence from next week while it will rival the likes of Volkswagen Polo, Hyundai i20 and Honda Jazz.

Being based on the new-gen HEARTECT architecture, Toyota Glanza comes with several premium features such as LED projector automatic headlamps with DRLs and follow-me-home function, Diamond cut alloy wheels, Smart Entry with Engine Start/Stop button, 60:40 Split rear seats, ORVM electric adjust & retract + auto fold and automatic AC. It also features a TFT multi-information display, Touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and Navigation, Steering mounted Audio and Calling controls with Voice Command etc. to name a few. As far as safety features are concerned, the hatch offers dual front airbags, Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD), Brake Assist (BA), and ISOFIX Child seat as standard.
Mechanically, the Glanza gets two BS VI compliant petrol engines in form of the 1.2L K12B and 1.2L K12C Dualjet. The former makes top power and peak torque of 83bhp and 113Nm respectively while the latter develops maximum power output of 90bhp and highest torque performance of 113Nm. The transmission options offered by Toyota are a 5-speed manual and a CVT gearbox. The manual variants will deliver a mileage of 21.01kmpl while the automatic variants will return an ARAI Certified fuel economy of 19.56kmpl. The biggest gainer is the K12C Smart Hybrid variant which has the best-in-segment mileage of 23.87kmpl. Toyota Glanza also comes with first-in-class three-year/1,00,000kms warranty as standard.
