Toyota Glanza has started to reach dealerships, expected launch on June 6

Snapshot: Toyota Glanza - the first fruit of the Toyota and Maruti Suzuki India JV has started to reach dealerships. Glanza will be offered with a 1.2-litre petrol engine.

Toyota Glanza, the first offering of the joint venture between Toyota and Maruti-Suzuki India has started to reach dealerships. The dealerships are also receiving inquiries for the Glanza, all thanks to the spy shots and an official teaser reveal by Toyota. Toyota has also launched a website for the Glanza and once launched, customers can get all the information about the car on the website.

The Toyota Glanza launch is expected to take place on June 6, this year. The Glanza will be offered with a 1.2-litre petrol engine with a manual 5-speed and CVT gearbox. The engine will be sourced from Maruti and it is expected to be tuned as per the BS VI emission guidelines. The Maruti-Suzuki Baleno's 1.2-litre petrol engine makes 83 bhp of peak power at 6,000 rpm and 115 Nm of peak torque at 4,000 rpm.

Toyota Glanza variants will include two trims which will be same as the Maruti Suzuki Baleno Zeta and Maruti Suzuki Baleno Alpha. Speaking of the exteriors, the Toyota Glanza remains almost identical to the Baleno. It also runs on the same alloy wheels which will sport Toyota logo on the hub cap. The changes in the exteriors include a new chrome grille with Toyota logo in the centre and Glanza branding on the tailgate including a letter 'V'. The interiors of the car will also remain identical to the Maruti Baleno and the changes, if any, will be minor.

Toyota will offer its standard 3 year / 1,00,000 km warranty with the Glanza and the Japanese automaker might offer its extended warranty plan as well. The joint venture between Toyota and Suzuki was announced to explore new opportunities and cutting costs.  The JV includes sharing models, technologies and platforms.  Toyota will share its HEV (Hybrid Electric Vehicle) technology with Suzuki and Suzuki will share its vehicle platforms and models with Toyota. The ex-showroom price of Maruti Suzuki Baleno 1.2 Zeta is Rs 6.86 lakh and the price of Toyota Glanza is expected to be on the premium side, keeping in mind the warranty limit offered by the latter.
