Toyota Innova Crysta would be launched on May 3, 2016 in the Indian market. Making its India debut at the 2016 Auto Expo, the new Innova has grown up substantially in size as compared to the current model. We have already told you about the variants and features that the Innova Crysta be carrying, courtesy a leaked e-brochure. The media drives for the 2016 Innova have started in Goa, while it can be booked at Toyota dealerships by paying Rs. 51,000.
The Innova Crysta is the new-generation Innova which is 150mm longer, 70mm wider and 35mm higher than the ongoing model. However, the wheelbase is same as the current-gen Innova. As per the leaked e-brochure, it would be available in three trims: GX, VX and ZX. Talking about the features, Toyota Innova Crysta would come with Start/Stop button, Electric tailgate, Automatic climate control, 7-inch Audio/Video/Navigation (AVN) system, and Powered driver's seat. In addition, there would be a 1-touch tumble for 2nd row seats and 3rd row seats. As for the safety of occupants, it would get dual front airbags, anti-lock braking system (ABS), electronic brake-force distribution (EBD), and brake assist (BA).
Mechanically, the Innova Crysta is reported to be coming in diesel guise only. However, contrary to the reports, a couple of petrol variants are also expected. The diesel variants would draw their power from the company's 2.4L GD and 2.8L GD engines. The 2.4L diesel engine would return 147bhp of top power and 343Nm of peak torque, while the 2.8L engine would deliver 175bhp of maximum power and 360Nm of highest torque. Toyota would offer two transmission: a 5-speed manual and 6-speed automatic. The automatic gearbox would be introduced with the entry-level GX grade and the range-topping ZX variant. Toyota Innova Crysta would rival Honda Mobilio and Renault Lodgy in the country, while expected to be priced higher than the ongoing model by at least Rs. 1.5 Lakhs.
