Toyota India has confirmed that deliveries of the Innova Crysta petrol would start from August 2016 in the country. In a newspaper advertorial, the Japanese automaker stated that petrol variants can be booked at all the company dealerships. Though, the company didn't reveal the prices of the petrol variants. Just so you know, Toyota Innova Crysta MPV has registered over 30,000 bookings till date ever since its launch in the country.
The petrol iteration of the MPV are likely to be powered by the 2.7L VVT-i engine, which is already available with the Middle East-spec Innova. It develops a maximum power of 164bhp and 250Nm of peak torque. It is expected to be linked to a 6-speed automatic transmission, with power being transmitted to the rear wheels of the MPV. The introduction of petrol variants is seen as temporary solution to the diesel vehicle ban imposed by the Supreme Court in Delhi-NCR. The ban has severely affected Toyota as it is unable to retail Fortuner and Innova in Delhi-NCR as both have diesel engine with capacity over 2000cc. For those asking, the next-generation Toyota Fortuner would be launched in India during the festive season in petrol guise too, with the same powertrain at the helm.
Toyota Innova was the best UV in the month of May 2016 as it outnumbered both the Maruti Vitara Brezza and Hyundai Creta, henceby claiming the 9th spot in the list of top-selling vehicles of the month. In June too, the company sold nearly 7500 units of the MPV, which ennsured quite a decent growth for Toyota. Moreover, it was recently learnt that the range-topping 2.8L Z AT variant has accounted for around 50 percent bookings of the MPV. The Toyota Innova Crysta 2.8L AT Z comes at a sticker price of Rs. 20.74 Lakhs (Ex. Showroom, Mumbai). The MPV has a general waiting period of upto 3 months currently, depending upon the variant, color and place.
