Toyota Innova Crsyta is all set to be launched in India by next month. But ahead of the official launch, the new MPV has been spotted on the Bangalore-Mysore highway in Karnataka in flesh. Having made its first public appearance in India at the 2016 Auto Expo in February, the dealer-level bookings for the Innova Crysta have started at a token amount of Rs. 50,000 nationwide. Though, the latest iteration of Innova is expected to be priced around Rs. 75,000 higher than the ongoing model.
As one can cleaarly see, the spied MPV has temporary registration plates and wears a '2.4' badge. The current-generation Innova has already been discontinued and the production of Innova Crysta is about to commence at Toyota's plant. The new MPV is 150mm longer, 70mm wider and 35mm taller than the current model. However, the wheelbase of the both the models is same. As for features, the Innova Crysta would come loaded with automatic climate control, ambient lighting and 7-inch touch-screen infotainment system. As for safety, it is expected that Toyota, like its entire model range, would offer the Innova Crysta with dual airbags, ABS and EBD as standard features with each and every variant.
Mechanically, the MPV is offered with two diesel and one petrol motor. The diesel variants would be powered by a 2.8L GD engine, which was showcased at the 2016 Auto Expo with the production model. It develops a maximum power of 175bhp. There is also a 2.4L GD diesel engine, which is under the hood of the spotted mule. It generates 147bhp and 342Nm with a 5-speed manual transmission, while the torque performance goes a bit higher to 360Nm with the 6-speed automatic gearbox. The company is also contemplating a petrol variant due to the ban on diesel vehicles having engine capacity of 2000cc or above in Delhi-NCR regions. It is being learnt that petrol variants would be offered with a 2.0L, 4-cylinder engine, which belts out 138bhp and 183Nm. Toyota Innova Crysta challenges the likes of Honda Mobilio, Renault Lodgy, and Maruti Ertiga.
