Toyota India launched the Innova Crysta on May 2, 2016 in a price range of Rs. 13.83-20.77 Lakhs (Ex. Showroom, Mumbai). The updated MPV, like its predecessor, is available in both 7-seater and 8-seater configurations. Though, the deliveries of the Innova Crysta started from May 13, 2016 across all the Toyota deaalerships. Currently, the Japanese automaker is developing 7,000 units of the Innova MPV at its Bidai manufacturing facility in Karnataka. The company is eyeing increase in production to meet the demand and cut down the waiting period. The Innova Crysta is advanced, upmarket and striking than the preceding model as it boasts of several first-in-segment features like Automatic LED projector headlamps, Ambient illumination, Upper glove box with cooling, One touch tumble second row seat, Rear Auto AC with Digital Display, and Easy slide front passenger seat.

Recently, Toyota suffered a major setback when the NGT bench of Supreme Court banned the sales of diesel vehicles with engine capacity over 2,000cc in Kerala as it won't be able to retail Innova and Fortuner in the state. For those wondering, the National Green Tribunal has already banned the sales of diesel vehicles with engine capacity above 2000cc in Delhi-NCR. Both the Delhi-NCR and Kerala were a big market for Toyota, especially for its best-selling models such as Innova and Fortuner. The Innova Crysta as well as the ew Fortuner are powered by a set of newly-developed 2.4L and 2.8L GD diesel engines. Now, the Japanese automaker is said to be reworking on its operational strategy in India and it might delay the launch of much-awaited new Fortuner SUV in the country.
