For many years now, there has been a cat and mouse chase between 2 manufacturers to prove their dominance to the world - Toyota from Japan and Volkswagen group from Germany. While VW has always been on the neck of Toyota, who is currently no.1 manufacturer in the world in terms of sales, VW simply can't come near to Toyota when it comes to brand value.
According to a recent study called 'Brandz Top 100 Most Valuable Global Brands 2015 Study', Toyota has been named the most valuable automotive brand across the globe. According to the study, Toyota's brand value is estimated at $28.9 billion, making it the global automotive leader both in terms of sales (which was close to 11 million in 2014) and brand value.
Following the Toyota on second spot is the German luxury car manufacturer BMW whole value is estimated at $26.3 billion and on the third spot is another German, Mercedes-Benz, with a value of $21.7 billion. The remaining seven spots were taken by manufacturers in the following order - Honda, Ford, Nissan, Audi, Volkswagen, Land Rover and Lexus.
The report says "Carmakers enjoyed strong sales in the US and China, but Europe’s economic problems hurt results. Of the 13 categories studied in this BrandZ report, cars is one of two categories that hasn’t rebounded in brand value to its pre-recession level."
Toyota in India, sells Etios, Etios Cross, Liva, Innova and Fortuner apart from Land Cruiser. Innova is the most sold vehicle for the Japanese brand in the country.
