Toyota Kirloskar Motor registered total sales of 9,160 units last month as compared to 21,143 units in the same period in 2013. While, domestic sales stood at just 8206 units, total exports fell down to 954 units only in the last month. The company had registered 19 per cent downfall in its February sales and now it has drastically gone down for which we can blame the sluggish economic conditions. Labour troubles of late have plagued the company recently, but it has now restarted production. N Raja, Senior Vice – President, Sales and Marketing said “We started limited operations from March 18, 2014, with the help of our non - unionized team members, majority of whom are supervisors.”

Toyota has been operating its business operations since 1997 in India. The company has two manufacturing facilities in Karnataka with a total production capacity of 3,10,000 units annually. Toyota's current lineup consists of ten models ranged between entry-level hatchback segment with the Etios Liva to the premium SUV, Land Cruiser 200. The company is also offering two hybrid models – Prius and Camry Hybrid, in India though both come with a hefty sticker price of around Rs. 35 lakhs.
