The Toyota Innova has been the face of Toyota’s MPV segment for a long time now, not just that it has been and still is one of the best sellers in the Indian car market today. News on the internet showed that the Toyota Kijang was recently refreshed and launched in Indonesia, the same Kijang or Innova as known in India will be making its way into the country in the month of September, this year. The Innova although has been a best seller of its segment, has gone through numerous updates since the time of launch. So this year’s upgrade won't be a surprise for many, when they hear the news.
The brand is all set to launch the Innova in the festive season, the new MPV will have quite a few changes when compared with the previous version, interior and exterior alike. So starting from the front, the grille will be wider and larger with 3 horizontal slats, the air dams are re-designed, bumpers have been re-designed to suit the air dams, the fog lamps now have chrome liners and an extra set of reflectors have been added on either side.
The interior will now have quality improved fabrics, along with a beige color theme. A new infotainment system has been added with comprises of a roof mounted display, the steering wheel now has audio controls fixed on it. As far the engine is concerned, there will no changes to that part, it will still use the 2.2 liter D4D diesel block with 102 BHP and 2.0 liter VVT petrol block that has a maximum output of 130 BHP. Currently the Innova is given a cash discount of Rs. 40,000 in the vicinity of Mumbai, but this will not be the same when the new version is launched, because it will have a chunky price tag of its own. This is just a refreshed model that is being unveiled, the brand also has an ‘all-new’ Innova, but that MPV will not feel the Indian summer heat anytime before 2016.
