Toyota has now revealed more information about the variants of the new Etios, the B-segment sedan that was launched earlier this week. The car, named as the Platinum Etios has got an updated looks and lot of enhancements to make it more appealing. The previous version was never able to achieve high sales figures thanks to the high pricing, outdated interiors and not-so-exciting driving experience. However, the new Platinum Etios seems like a better value for money and we hope the company will be achieve better sales figures this time.
The new Toyota Platinum will arrive in three petrol variants - VX, V and G, and three diesel variants - VXD, VD, GD. The top spec'd Platinum Etios VX/VXD comes with a good dose of luxurious elements like chrome garnish around the grille, foglamps, side mouldings, bootlid, AC vents and gear knob. A music system with Bluetooth connectivity, leather wrapped steering wheel, electrically adjustable ORVMs, fog lamps and alloy wheels further enhances the features list.
The mid-level Platinum Etios V/VD is Rs 57,000 cheaper than the top of the line VX and VXD models. This variant loses out some luxury elements like chrome bezels around the fog lamps, retractable ORVMs, alloy wheels, interior chrome treatments and reversing sensors. However this model is also equipped with much needed safety features such as seatbelts with pretensioners, airbags and ABS with EBD.
The cheapest Platinum Etios G/GD is priced Rs 74,000 cheaper than the V/VD variant. The base model lacks body garnish, chrome package, wood from the interior and ICE. The model rides on smaller tyres than its more expensive siblings which has helped Toyota to keep the pricing low. However the base model retains all the safety features such as seatbelts with pretensioners, airbags and ABS with EBD for better passenger safety.
The Toyota Etios has always been a capable car due to its tank like build quality and dependable drivetrain. Toyota has now made the car even better with facelift and updated equipments which might help it in gaining the momentum in sales. The car will have a direct competition with the Hyundai Xcent, Tata Indigo CS, Ford Figo Aspire, newly launched Volkswagen Ameo and the segment king Maruti Swift Dzire which will turn the heat up in B-segment even more.
