Toyota has announced its intention to launch the Corolla Altis on 27th May in India. The company had shown the new car at the recently concluded Auto Expo, where it was displayed side-by-side with the Etios Cross. Bookings for the new model has started across all dealerships, with Rs. 50,000/- being accepted as a token amount.
The new generation Toyota Corolla boasts completely revised exterior and interiors without any radical mechanical changes. The car’s stance is wider and quite a bit more aggressive compared to its outgoing version thanks to the bigger dimensions and 110 mm longer wheelbase. Loaded with Daytime Running Lamps (DRL) equipped projector headlights, broad bumpers, re-sketched body lines and enchanted rear-end make it an impressive looking sedan in its segment. Interiors are similarly improved with several comfort features like rear reclining seats.
No any changes have been made to the engine and transmission, therefore the new Corolla continues to get power from a 1.8-litre, 140 PS, Dual-VVTi Petrol and 1.4-litre, 89 PS, D-4D turbocharged diesel engine. While the 6-speed manual transmission will transfer the power onto wheels in diesel version, petrol buyers also have the choice of Super CVT-i with 7-speed sequential shiftmatic transmission along with the 6-speed manual set. The company is also due to declare the prices of Etios Cross, which we think will be out be prior to Corolla Altis launch.
