Toyota Vellfire is the luxury MPV from the brand that will be landing on Indian soil by October 2019. It will be arriving as a CBU and will be enjoying tax rebate benefits that the Government decided during the initial days of 2019. Toyota Alphard, on which Alphard is based was showcased at the Auto Expo 2018. Vellfire receives a lot more than Alphard that majorly includes cosmetic upgrades. Powered by a 2.5-litre petrol hybrid engine, Toyota Vellfire will be good to churn out 145hp of combined power. It will be an AWD vehicle mated to a CVT transmission.
So what exactly happened that made Toyota bring this luxury MPV in India? Earlier Government used to charge certain duties on imported vehicles. Since the rules have been relaxed, Toyota Vellfire will soon be seen on Indian roads. It will be arriving as a completely built unit. Under the homologation rule, vehicles with a freight-on-board value of $40,000 (Rs. 27 Lakhs) or above that along with certain engine capacities. The new homologation rule allows manufacturers to bring 2500 vehicles per year without getting them homologated in India.
Toyota Vellfire was showcased to certain dealers at an event in India. It gets a split headlight unit with LED lights and DRLs, piano black insert all across the front grille and fog lamp housing. Toyota Alphard interior includes a different world of luxury. It gets a six-seat arrangement in 3 rows. The middle row will get two ultra-luxurious couches which are functional for reclining and ventilation. It gets 3 zone climate control, dual sunroof, mood lights, seven airbags, powered sliding door and tailgate, and black and beige interior. The Toyota Alphard price may range between Rs. 75 lakhs to Rs. 80 Lakhs and it will be competing with Mercedes V-Class.
