The Japanese car maker Toyota kept in view the new Vios in the Shanghai motor show after the car was initially displayed at the Bangkok motor show. Vios is a sedan type comfort saloon, next in range to the company’s Corolla, introduced in other markets as Yaris. Along with the new Vios, Toyota also displayed Alphard welcab, FT- HT Yuejia, Yungdong  and other cars in the show.

The new version has received a new front face and stylish, sharp and aggressive appearance. The interior also has a changed look, with a black and beige theme and featuring some chrome inserts. The dashboard gets new metallic accents and attractive gauges. A four speaker audio system is fitted which can support MP3, USB and AUX connectivity. The car is designed based on Toyota’s Dear Qin concept, from the Beijing motor show last year.

The new Vios features a projector headlight and 15 or 16 inches alloy wheels. The car gets its power from a 1.5 litre 4 cylinder engine that can churn out 107 bhp. The engine can give a maximum torque of 141 Nm. The car has a five speed manual gearbox or the top variant can be opted for with a four speed automatic gearbox.

The new Vios keeps in view the market of new car buyers and is captivating with a simple design, featuring the style of Toyota family. The design is completely new when compared to the previous models. According to the company, Vios is for the global market with world class standards. The introduction would be in the South East Asian markets including, Taiwan, Thailand and china. The production will commence in the Chinese ground for the local demands.  The company did not explicitly comment on launching the car in the Indian market. If the car enters the Indian market, it will be competing with Honda city, Skoda rapid and Volkswagen Vento.
