Toyota is all set to showcase the Yaris Ativ sedan at the Auto Expo 2018 that would be a new product for the Indian passenger car market and centre of interest at the Toyota’s Stable. As per media reports, the Yaris Ativ sedan is expected to launch in India by the second half of the 2018. The new sedan will compete with the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz and Honda City, but would be a more premium offering. Recently, the sedan has been spotted doing some test rounds in India.

The Yaris Sedan in Singapore is sold with the ‘Vios’ moniker and we can expect it to be the closest one to that of the model to be introduced in Indian market. The sedan measures 4,425mm in length and a wheelbase of 2,550mm, but it will be chopped off a bit for the Indian market. The front fascia gets a V-shaped grille along with horizontal slats in it, LED daytime running lights, where the headlamp housing have projectors, standard halogen lamps along with indicators. From the side. At the rear, it comes with wraparound taillamps with reflectors positioned at the lower end of the bumper and will ride on a 6-spoke alloy wheels.

Inside, the sedan comes with an all-black interiors and some use of silver accents around the centre console and AC vents. It also comes equipped with a multi-functional steering wheel, a blue backlit instrument cluster, whereas the higher variants are offered with a 7 inch touchscreen infotainment system, automatic climate control, rear view camera and engine start/stop. In terms of safety, the sedan would come packed with 7 airbags, ABS with EBD and brake assist, stability control and traction control are standard across all variants.

In the international market, the Toyota Yaris Ativ is offered in different engine option such as a 1.2-litre, 4-cylinder petrol engine that produces 84bhp and 108Nm of torque. In Singapore, it is offered in the name of the Vios and comes powered with a 1.5-litre petrol engine that makes 106bhp of maximum power and 140Nm of top torque that would preferably make its way to Indian shore, where there are no details for the diesel variants to be launched, as the Japanese brand does not have a small capacity diesel engine.  Transmission duties will be carried out by a 5-speed manual as standard and a CVT.

Toyota Yaris is expected to be priced quite competitively  in a range of Rs 8.5 lakh to Rs 11 lakh (Ex Showroom) in order to cover the mid-size sedan segment in the country.
