Triumph Motorcycles India has issued a recall for the Triumph Street Triple RS bikes over an issue in the switchgear. According to the company’s official statement, around 100 bikes have been affected with this issue and Triumph dealerships will contact the owners of the affected bikes to fix the problem. It is however not clear if the faulty parts will be replaced or repaired.
The left hand switch cube on specific units of Street Triple RS models with an indicator need to be fixed; besides the main beam is not working properly due to the ingress of water into the switch cube internals. It seems the switchgear may not have been sealed properly during the manufacture, letting the water to seep in during monsoons or while washing the bike.
This could further lead to electrical problem which could further cause problem in the horn, headlights and turn indicators. It could be fatal for the rider as the headlight on the bike may fail causing a crash with other motorists on the road.
Coming to the bike, it is among the most popular middleweight performance naked bike in India which derives power from the 765cc, in-line, three-cylinder engine good for 121bhp of power at 11700rpm against 77Nm at 10,800rpm. The company currently has 16 dealerships in the country and it plans to expand it to 20 by the end of 2018.
