Following Guy Martin’s tragic crash at Ulster Grand Prix last week, Triumph Land Speed Record team has issued a confirmation that they have postponed the attempt till the Lincolnshire racer fully recovers from his injuries. As one of the most celebrated racers, we and millions of other fans wish Guy a speedy recovery and hope he gets beck on two wheels as soon as possible.

Triumph Land Speed Record team states, “We’re obviously concerned with the news that Guy has sustained injuries as a result of his crash in last week’s Dundrod 150 race. While in true form, Guy has signed himself out of hospital this week we all feel that given his injuries it won’t be possible to complete the required testing prior to attempting to take the record this year. Guy is a unique talent and having such a pilot for our Rocket motorcycle is absolutely central to our attempt. We wish him a full and speedy recovery and will confirm a new date for our 2016 bid as soon as we can.”

For those who may not know the planned attempt, Triumph’s intention is to recover its land speed legacy with the Triumph Rocket. Engineers bolted two Triumph Rocket III engines together and turbocharged it. The resulting combined power output of now stands at more than a 1,000bhp. Powered by methanol and Castrol synthetic oil running through its veins, the Triumph Rocket aims at achieving the 400mph (640kmph) target. Triumph chose Guy as he is a racer, mechanic and an adventure seeker. He has been eager to set a new record and we are positive will soon achieve it after his recovery.
