Triumph Motorcycle- the British motorcycle manufacturer today launched the Triumph Speed Twin in India at Rs 9.46 lakh (ex-showroom). The Speed Twin sits between Thruxton and Street Twin in terms of price and it can be dubbed as the ultimate blend of Triumph Thruxton's raw power and agility as well as Triumph Street Twin's timeless design and laid back riding character. Triumph has also equipped the Speed Twin with a number of riding aides.
The Triumph Speed Twin is powered by a liquid-cooled, parallel-twin 1200 cc engine that can churn out 98 bhp of max power at 6,750 rpm and 112 Nm of max torque at 4,950 rpm. The powerful engine is mated to a 6-speed gearbox. The 270-degree firing order has made the exhaust note bassy and distinctive, quintessential to a parallel-twin motor. Speed Twin is using magnesium cam cover that has led to shedding a lot of weight, 10 kgs to be specific. The motorcycle will be offered in three colour schemes - Silver Ice/Storm Grey, Korosi Red/Storm Grey and Jet Black. Speed Twin is equipped with a USB charging port and Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS).
The suspension setup includes 41 mm cartridge forks at the front and twin shock-absorbers at the back with adjustable preload setting. Speed Twin is using Brembos at the front and Nissin at the back and it comes equipped with a dual-channel ABS unit. The motorcycle is also equipped with switchable traction control. Triumph Speed Twin has got three riding modes - Rain, Road and Sports and one can modulate the engine response as per the road and riding conditions. Speed Twin's laid back riding character makes it a motorcycle that can be used daily and its sportiness keeps the rider entertained all day. The Triumph Speed Twin will be up against Ducati Scrambler.
