Triumph Thunderbird LT launched for Rs 15.75 lakh
Snapshot: Launched in the year 2013, Triumph within a year, has captured the nerves of Indian consumers really well.
Triumph India has just launched their Classic Cruiser, Thunderbird LT, LT being Light Touring, at Rs 15.75 lakh (ex showroom, Delhi). This is the 12th offering in India from Triumph and 3rd in the cruiser category. Triumph, now has an incredible lineup comprising all genres, right from Classics to Sportsbikes to Tourers and much more. Launched in the year 2013, Triumph within a year, has captured the nerves of Indian consumers really well.
The bike will get a 1699cc parallel twin engine, the biggest and one of its own kind in this category. It will produce 94PS @ 5400rpm and the torque generated will be 151 NM at 3550rpm. That's an impressive figure by all means, given the sheer size of this vehicle. The thunderbird LT will now be placed along with the Thunderbird Storm and the Rocket III, the largest bike on the planet.
One of the nicest feature we found in this cruiser was the White walled tires. Developed in association with Avon tires, they got a really nice, plush and classic feeling attached to them. We suppose, Triumph took the classic tag too seriously! Also, the seat is comfortable for that Sunday long ride. They are very wide and designed keeping in mind both the rider and the pillion. The windscreen is large enough to stop that wind blast and is also easily detachable for those who don't like screens. The color option available will be a combo of Caspian Blue with Crystal White and Lava Red with Phantom Black.

Speaking on the event, Mr Vimal Sumbly, Managing Director, Triumph India said, "The last 10 months have been extraordinary for Triumph Motorcycles in India. The run has been nothing less than brilliant with 8 functional dealerships successfully selling over 835 motorcycles. The excitement and enthusiasm we have seen for Triumph has been inspiring to say the least!"
"It is a Classic Cruiser with great looks, superb performance, handling and class leading comfort..With an attractive price it is sure to take the country by storm! With this addition, Triumph Motorcycles will now offer three motorcycles for consumers interested in the cruiser segment. We are confident, the motorcycle will gain a fantastic response" adding to his statement he said.
The surprising element of the launch was the pricing though. Since the launch of the Indian Motorcycles Scout, at a price tag of 12 lakhs, the classic cruiser manufacturers are feeling a lot of heat to keep the price right. Triumph took the cue from the trend and kept the price low. Currently, operating from 8 dealerships from the length and breadth of the country, they will add 2 more dealerships by November 2014, in Chandigarh and Kolkata. We hope that Harley will also jump the race soon.
With the launch of Thunderbird LT, Triumph has really played a masterstroke, looking at how the customers are eagerly waiting for more and more classic cruisersin India. Kudos to Triumph, we say!
